Hello. Thank you for your report. If you could issue the following
commands and attach the resulting log files:

uname -a > uname-a.log

cat /proc/version_signature > version.log

dmesg > dmesg.log

sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log

Thank you,

Jon

Status in “linux” source package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Upgraded to 8.10 (from 8.04?) yesterday. Have installed all updates, but the
system keeps hanging either while web browsing in Firefox (including writing
into this info box!) or file browsing and opening text files. No other software
running. Can continue moving mouse pointer, but no clicking or keyboard activity
is effective, only a hard reset has an effect. Hardware info: AMD 64 x2 5000+,
2GB RAM, 40GB IDE HDD. Sorry for lack of detail, I'm trying to convert from
M$ Windows (!) and haven't much clue about UNIX or LINUX.
