Is it just me or am I missing something? Isn't the hole point of notification system to NOTIFY the user when important/critical information user needs to know about? What's the point of the notification system if you don't want to notify the user that there is critical updates? Why are we trying to make things hard here? Why not solve the real issue here? We are going for in your face open window to minimized window which someone might miss. What happens if someone does not see the minimized window, will it open up again next time system is restated? Why not just have a little bouncing icon like MAC as? It's in your face.
