This bug continues to affect Jaunty, as of March 31, 2009.

With all due respect to Sebastian, the "About me" app, which is
displayed by default to all users who install Ubuntu Jaunty, as opposed
to "control center", which is not, does not function AT ALL without
evolution-data-server (EDS) installed.

The bug is that (EDS) is listed as a recommends of "control center" the
package that provides "about me", when it should be depends. If ubuntu
only listed "about me" within the context of "control center" then I
could see it being considered as recommends to enable full functionality
of the control center package, but Ubuntu present "About me" to users as
a stand-alone app. I think there is a certain expectation that it will
work as a stand-alone package.

As such, for Ubuntu Jaunty, so long as "About me" is present as a stand-
alone option from the >system>preferences menu, EDS must be considered
as a dependency of "control-center", the actual package that provides
"About me". A fact I did not learn until I filed a new bug report, that
I will now mark as duplicate of this one.

Best,
Arthur
