Well, I'm still waiting for official release... This problem started happening all of a sudden, and I cannot dig what particularly caused it... it might be kernel upgrade, but I'm not sure. I hear people complaining 'bout same problem in jaunty. The thing is... LIRC worked just fine few days ago, 'irw' did show some output... main problem is in removal of /dev/input/event6 which is connected to my remote.
I got some directions from Panayiotis Savva on other bug post I'm subscribed, he suggested me to go on with irrecord, and to do certain modifications to hardware.conf. I quote: ## # /etc/lirc/hardware.conf # #Chosen Remote Control REMOTE="MSI t...@nywhere Master" REMOTE_MODULES="" *REMOTE_DRIVER="devinput"* *REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/input/by-path/pci-0000:02:01.0--event-ir"* *REMOTE_LIRCD_CONF="msi/lircd.conf.tvanywhere"* REMOTE_LIRCD_ARGS="" #Chosen IR Transmitter TRANSMITTER="None" TRANSMITTER_MODULES="" TRANSMITTER_DRIVER="" TRANSMITTER_DEVICE="" TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_CONF="" TRANSMITTER_LIRCD_ARGS="" #Enable lircd *START_LIRCD="true"* #Don't start lircmd even if there seems to be a good config file #START_LIRCMD="false" #Try to load appropriate kernel modules *LOAD_MODULES="true"* # Default configuration files for your hardware if any LIRCMD_CONF="" FORCE_NONINTERACTIVE_RECONFIGURATION="false" START_LIRCMD="" ## He also stated that I should bypass /dev/input/eventX part, as he did, and instead of that put "/dev/input/by-path/pci-0000:02:01.0--event-ir" (of course, I should change this line to fit my config). I'm about to try this, and I hope I'm going to be successful this time. Speaking of Jaunty J, I really don't like trying beta releases, and I also prefer clean install (and I also have exam, so I'm swarmed a bit... don't have plenty of time to get up with that)! -- LIRC: removed client https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350648 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
