Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop
I just upgraded my laptop from 8.10 to 9.04beta, and while Gnome is
running super fast as before, KDE 4.2 is terribly slow; simple
operations such as moving/resizing a window or scrolling take more than
a second to perform. Here are my specs:
CPU: 2.1 core duo
RAM: 2G
Graphics: Nvidia 8400M
GLX in activated, compiz runs great (on Gnome), but KDE is virtually
unusable. I have found similar reports for ATI and Intel graphics
chipsets, but nothing about nvidia. I'm attaching my lshw and hwinfo
output.
