** Description changed: Binary package hint: nvidia-settings I recently upgraded to a 20'' ASUS VW202SR LCD but I haven't been able to configure the optimal resolution (1680x1050) for use with my laptop (a Toshiba Satellite A100 317). I had successfully configured my old monitor (a 19'' Dell LCD) for its optimal resolution (1280x1024). There appears to be nothing wrong with the hardware since everything works fine in Windows (I had to manually add the resolution there too though). The problem seems to be that nvidia-settings is unable to detect all the resolutions the monitor is capable of displaying, the maximum I can get - is 1280x1024. I also tried manually adding the resolution to xorg.conf - but when I restart X I get no video signal (neither on the external - monitor nor on the laptop display). + is 1280x1024, the "Resolution" combobox in nvidia-settings only displays + 4 options: - I had this problem with Intrepid and also with the new jaunty beta (I - upgraded just to see if something had changed). + - off + - auto + - 640x480 + - 1280x1024 + + I also tried manually adding the 1680x1050 resolution to xorg.conf but + when I restart X I get no video signal (neither on the external monitor + nor on the laptop display). + + I had this problem with Intrepid and also with the new Jaunty beta (I + upgraded just to see if anything had changed). Here's my configuration: - Toshiba Satellite A100 317 - monitor: ASUS VW202SR - - VGA: GeForce Go 7300 + - nvidia-settings version180.25-0ubuntu1 + - nvidia driver version 180 + - VGA: GeForce Go 7300 (VBIOS 05.72.22.41.42) lspci reports this for the video card: - 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G72M [Quadro NVS - 110M/GeForce Go 7300] (rev a1) + 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation G72M + [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300] [10de:01d7] (rev a1) Let me know if you need more information. Best, Eros
