I've only been using linux for a week (openSuse 11.1) now so I don't know how
much the distros differ between each other... But I found this workaround in
the forums from Xafke:
"Goto the control panel, click Network Connections, open the tab Wireless,
Select you're wireless network and click edit.
Then enable the "Connect Automaticly" option (under connection name)
Also enable "Available to all users". It's next to the cancel button.
Now apply the changes and reboot.. Hope it works!
I'm using OpenSuSe 11.1, Gnome."

I don't know what it does with the WPA key, but it worked for me:
autologin and open wlan without the keyring prompt. Just my two cents...
