You can see the updates installed within the system logs. Depending on your configuration acessing those logs differs by user. I would recomend opening the synaptic package manager and copying the history from the time when the problem began. If you did this through the terminal or other app this would be entirely useless. The system logs can usually be accessed through the "start" menu under "system" the name should give them away. Then attach the log entries for up to 1 hour before; and 15 minutes after; the problem started. Once again thank you for reporting and making ubntu better.
