Sorry about the terse description; it seems to be two related behaviors -- once one is evident (quick flicker) a hang comes soon after. The previous install (8.10) was very stable but 9.x didn't work at all (there was no X windows display) until I added the UXA line as noted in the bug log. The display comes up now but after about 5 to 10 minutes of use, there is a noticeable tear or two that goes across the screen. Usually soon after the display goes entirely black and the machine from what I can tell, is in a frozen state. is the gma950 a crazy chip to code for?
