Public bug reported:
After an upgrade from Intrepid to Jaunty Beta 1 (including all updates
to April 4, 2009), suspend no longer works. Linux switches to a text
VT, the screen is empty except for the cursor blinking in the upper-
left, and the moon icon on the ThinkPad display flashes but the machine
never suspends. I can use Alt-F1 to view the first VT and switch to
other VTs, but I can't type anything (keyboard seems completely dead,
even SysRq doesn't work). I have to hold down the power button for > 5
seconds to turn off the computer.
I made changes to the acpi-support config files in Intrepid, so I purged
and re-installed acpi-support, acpid, and laptop-mode-tools to get the
stock configuration back. This didn't solve the problem (same
symptoms).
I tried debugging this by echoing 1 to /sys/power/pm_trace, but there
doesn't appear to be anything interesting in the kernel logs after a
failed suspend.
