       This looks lot be a newer version of the Intel 4500 chip. The chip id 
may not be in the driver. Could you try out the Jaunty live CD .. you don't 
need to install it , you can see if comes up with the proper resolution in the 
Live Session.

       If that works it better helps narrow the problem. My belief is
that the driver in Intrepid does not have the newer chip id that is on
your board.
