Steve pointed to bug 41091which contained a set of patches which solved
a similar issue. Those patches have since been released as a stable
update for the Intrepid kernel. Also @Matthias Meier (the original bug
reporter) has commented that the latest 2.6.27-11 kernel for Intrepid
seems quite stable. As a result I'm marking this bug Fix Released for
Intrepid. If anyone else is still experiencing issue with the latest
kernel, please open a new report. Thanks.
