I am also experiencing a similar problem. Signed S/MIME email works fine for me but I see the error when trying to open signed AND encrypted mail (i.e. mail that is BOTH signed and encrypted). This worked fine with 8.10, the problem started to appear with 9.04. Other mail clients work fine.
