I have the same bug. It works on other users (created newly). I already had this bug when I migrated, but solved it after some updates. Now, I worked on solving another bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/348432) by moving configuration files. Finally, I moved quiet all configuration files, and this bug reappeared. Nautilus is not starting when login in, no desktop etc... As i have the bug #348432, I don't have a window manager too at login . After setting compiz in appearance, I can do alt+f2 and tyoe nautilus : makes dekstop showing
The two bugs does not seem related, as for a few days now I had only bug #348432. Still this is _very_ annoying.
