Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
When I try to load a url for a hostname who's DNS server is returning SERVFAIL responses, the entire of firefox (i.e. not just a single tab) hangs/stalls. Try this URL: http://loadplus.de/. It should fail to load, but not before hanging up your firefox. If it doesn't hang your entire firefox, try reconfiguring to use an HTTP proxy, like squid. There should be no circumstances where the entire of firefox is deadlocked/hung/stalled on trying to load just a single URL, no matter what the success/fail of the name resolution or the page loading is. This is what being multi-threaded is all about afterall. For the record, I am using 3.0.8 on Jaunty, but I believe this bug is quite firefox version agnostic. ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- firefox stalls on dns servfail https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357436 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
