Like I say I have a equivalent of a X305-Q706 (but eropean version)
I use Ubuntu 8.10 with proprietary nvidia driver (beta driver on the nvidia
website are more stable).
You can try my xorg.conf, with it my Ubuntu is stable but I have just a 9400M
GT with it.
I re-attached my DSDT.dsl (because last is on megaupload)
