If you right-click on the panel and change the properties to show hide
buttons and arrows on hide button checked you can click the arrows and
find the close button under the panel so you can resize the window.

Subject: [Bug 301599] Re: firefox close-minimize-maximize tab disappear

I am also experiencing this this on an AMD64 system. Gnome desktop
environment. I do not believe the window decorator is crashing as
pressing F11 twice fixes the display issue. When I disable COMPIZ, the
problem goes away. Is there a specific place that does 'per
window/application' special operations that can be poked at to try and
see if it is a setting that can be tweaked to stop this rather annoying
behavior?
