The initial report is confusing, so this comment is just to point out the simple minimal test case:
cvlc --config=/dev/null ./high.ogg ^-- this skips and stutters alsaplayer ./high.ogg ^-- this plays smoothly Note that both are reading the ogg vorbis file from the local filesystem. Here's another .ogg file which exhibits a similar problem. If I play this with cvlc, I hear the speaker say "If you were -- iffing it over all week". When I play it with alsaplayer I hear him say "If you were pon... If you were mulling it over all week, now". mplayer produces the same output as alsaplayer. If I run "oggdec high-40KB.ogg", then it emits "Warning: hole in data (-3)" and produces a .wav file which sounds the same as the alsaplayer and mplayer renditions of the ogg file do. I'm attaching this file as "high-40KB.ogg". versions: vorbis-tools 1.2.0-5 vlc 0.9.8a-1ubuntu4 libvorbis0a 1.2.0.dfsg-3.1 libogg0 1.1.3-4build1 alsaplayer-teext 0.99.80-3ubuntu1 mplayer-nogui 2:1.0~rc2-0ubuntu19 ** Attachment added: "high-40KB.ogg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25077380/high-40KB.ogg -- stutters when playing ogg files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345506 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
