Apologies for not being able to provide the info laid out in the triage
guide until now. The machine no longer shuts down cleanly under all
conditions (halt, suspend, hibernate). This began one or two days after
submitting the bug report, and it's been a persistent issue since.

This error message starts repeating endlessly towards the end of the power down 
process:
BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s! [NetworkManager: 2429]
