After further investigation, and attempting to get my system working again, I have discovered the following -
The bug I described above, occurs exactly the same in the final release of Ubuntu alternate version 8.10 (Intrepid), just with the relevant words for that version - So during the phase - > Installing the base system it gets as far as - 78% "Gathering information for installation report..." Then a window pops up showing the following - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [!!] Install the base system Please insert the disc labeled: 'Ubuntu 8.10 _Intrepid Ibex_ - Release i386 (20081028)' in the drive '/cdrom/' and press enter. Media change <Go Back> <Continue> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOWEVER going back one more version to - Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS alternate i386 CD install I can install on to the same hardware without the above fault that occurs on 8.10 (Intrepid) and 9.04 beta (Jaunty). -- Alternate install hangs requesting jaunty CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351053 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
