Ubuntu 8.04 (Intrepid) for 32-bit architecture updated as of 4/9/2009 for both Intel and nVidia hardware on 64-bit intel machine.
I can't record a video on the intel hardware that has the most issues, probably because of the lack of reliable vsync for that hardware. I was able to record a video on the nVidia 8600 GT that I have attached. It shows me fiddling with the values. With the intel video card disabling the frame limiter puts my frames per second to 100, but no matter what i set it to with the limiter enabled I always get much much less, even with vsync disabled.
