Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
If you pull power out from your laptop, you'll probably hear a click if
you have the "use sound to notify on an error" feature enabled.
This click is not very useful as it gives little information. It should
be changed to a beep or some kind of informative alert. Further, it
sounds like a problem in the laptop... it sounds like a spark jumping or
a relay switching (I thought this at first until I asked on the forums.)
And yes, while it comes just out of the speakers, and doesn't work
during mute, it is hard to locate and got me quite confused.
Also, the dialog should be changed. Removing the AC adapter should not
be an error; it is a notification, message or warning (at most).
