Super! all_generic_ide kernel parameter fixed my reboot problem on Asus F5N right away. Based on what other reporters say, I beleive this bug may now be safely marked as fixed.
As to the wireless LED script, it needs further enchancement but unfortunately could not post to read-only forum Horváth Dávid is referring to. Basically, if you plug in Ethernet cable while connected to wireless network, wled stays on. Now unplug Ethernet cable - you are now connected to wireless but wled is off. The script needs to distinguish between wired and wireless connections so that only wireless interface controls the wlan LED. May I propose to move futher discussion of this issue to Bug #199682 "Asus F5N laptop Special keys not working..." and to mark this reboot bug as closed.
