Public bug reported: I am using Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10 fully upgraded to Ubuntu Studio
The crackling started suddenly one day after moving my speakers to another computer and then back again to this one. It seems to be happening when the computer working, and happens both when using Jack and when not. I also get the following error everytime I open Amarok, my chosen music player: phonon - The audio playback device HD Intel (VT1708B Analog) does not work. Falling back to default. I don't know if that's related or not, but it seems notable. I followed this link: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems but with no luck. I tried to get the sound information that is asked for reporting sound bugs by typing 'sudo bash alsa-info.sh' in the command- line but was told there is no such file or directory. I'm new at all of this, so I apologize for my ignorance in not knowing what further I can do about this. But I am willing to help any way I can. Thanks everyone for your time and patience.
