Public bug reported: Binary package hint: alsa-utils
I have a new Asus EEE pc 904ha. Whenever I mute the audio, there is a fairly loud crackling sound. This only happens when some application is attempting to play sound, and only when I mute the volume from the icon in the top right corner of the screen (or via gnome-volume-control, which I think is the same thing). I can adjust the volume to almost nothing, so that it effectively seems to be muted, and there is no crackling. I can also mute the volume when no application is trying to play sound and there is no crackling. from lspci, my audio card appears to be: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) I also ran the alsa-info.sh script: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=4fbd3b77ef1da89b16eb138e58ddb9990fb9a892 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04 Package: alsa-utils 1.0.18-1ubuntu11 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: alsa-utils Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic i686 ** Affects: alsa-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- Crackling sound when muted https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359793 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
