The line above regarding source code applies to the 1.4.0.0 revision of
the code. That fix works for 8.10 and the Alphas of 9.04 up until the
rt2870 driver was included.

I just tried the 2.1.0.0 code that was released on 2 March 2009 on
Ubuntu 8.10; while this code recognizes the adapter without entering a
device ID anywhere (I couldn't find a device listing in the code they
provide) the device wasn't able to connect to my network for some
reason.

If the included rt2870 driver is using the updated code I'm not sure how
this would apply to that. Just wanted to clarify; I hadn't realized
they'd released an update.
