I have had this bug since 7.04. I am running 8.10 now, and uname -a is Linux buzz-CP-ubuntu 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Tue Nov 4 19:33:06 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I have attached dmesg output, but the lines about my mouse only occur after I type lsusb. There is nothing in dmesg until I type lsusb. Also the LED in the optical mouse does not turn on until I type lsusb, and the output of lsusb does not list the mouse until I type it a second time.
