I'm not quite sure if I'm experiencing the same problem, but when I try to install the Jaunty Beta on my PC, when installing grub it triggers a logout which closes the installer. I had a look on the / partition and saw that there was no grub folder in the /boot folder, indicating that it hadn't installed it.
Weirdly enough, when installing off the exact same CD, I experienced absolutely no problems on my laptop - I even insatlled GRUB to the linux partition, not the MBR so i could hook GRUB into my windows bootmanager (it makes ubuntu easier to uninstall). I was also using Ext4. On that note, this problem happens regardless of whether I use Ext4 or Ext3 on my PC. My desktop has the following specs: Intel C2D e6400 @ 2.13GHz (note, I'm installing the 64-bit version of jaunty) NVIDIA 7600GT (The desktop effects require a downloaded driver, even though it's running off the livecd) 4GB of RAM GIGABYTE GA-945P-S3 Motherboard My laptop is an Acer TravelMate 6292 Will submit syslog and other such files shortly, I just need to try installing again -- ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_bootloader() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
