Is this still a real issue on the current Jaunty release? Also be aware
that the hdparm timing test might be wrong. The same test claims around
3MB/s with GSA-4163B here, while using dd gets 4.4MB/s for a CD which is
around the theoretical limit of a 32x read (4.8MB/s). The DMA settings
cannot be changed with hdparm on newer kernels but are normally set
correctly with libata. If this is an issue, please attach dmesg and
hdparm -i for the affected drive.
