One thing I've noticed lately is that I have to delete the partitions on my removable device before running usb-creator, thereby forcing usb- creator to format from scratch before applying the ISO image. Can you guys try that? If it makes a difference, then the issue is likely not kernel related (though I can't say for sure what it might be).
