I can confirm that this specific problem is not visible with the Ubuntu
Jaunty live CD (daily build 14 April),.

However, if you boot the system without a network connection, and then
plug one in, the system does not automatically detect it until 60
seconds later, at which point an "Auth eth0" appears on the
NetworkManager icon menu (it doesn't automatically connect).   If you
then choose "Auto eth0", the connection succeeds, and networking is
operational.

Also, if the network connection is established and you unplug it from
the computer, the NetworkManager doesn't realise that it has
disconnected, and eth0 stays up.

Is that another bug?
