So it looks like the missing piece was in the kernel. This card has to allocate
all it's memory via AGP. The intrepid kernel was missing AGP support:

Ensure that you are using the patched intel driver:

And then install the kernel I linked to (this is the Jaunty kernel that
has the support):

If this experiment works then we will try and get an Intrepid kernel
with the proper support built into it.
