Hi, It doesn't exactly solve your problem, but there is a way to open the folder that you're in as root.
If you go here: http://g-scripts.sourceforge.net/nautilus- scripts/Execute/Misc/root-nautilus-here and save that in ~/Nautilus/scripts. You can then click on the background of the folder, choose scripts (I think) and then choose the script. As I said before, it doesn't completely solve your problem but it helps.
