I can confirm that this is still broken on 8.10 64 bit Ubuntu. I use the gnome dekstop environment. The file /usr/share/applications/kde/basket.desktop contains the line "Icon=basket". I believe the problem is taht there is no file basket.xxx in /usr/share/pixmaps/ - at least on my system.
