Gotta say I'm against the whole idea of this.  It is very unlikely that
anyone would just type "ubuntu" as a url unless they were trying to
access a machine on their home network with that short name.  Having FF
redirect certain hostnames without trying to resolve them could
potentially break things.

Web browsers should always try to resolve the URL, no matter what it is,
and go to the address to which it resolves.  Many ISPs, and OpenDNS, are
going to resolve "ubuntu" just fine and send you to their own search
pages.
