Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20
Version 2.6.20-3.4 includes cloop kernel module source vesion 2.02,
while the feisty distribution includes the cloop utilities version 2.05.
If you try to losetup an image produced by those utilities you get an
error message saying no memory could be allocated.
