goto shell and see what u have in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. check if u can fix
it.

if not try replacing it with

        Identifier      "Configured Monitor"

        Identifier      "Default Screen"
        Monitor         "Configured Monitor"
        Device          "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

Section "Device"
        Identifier      "Configured Video Device"
