I experience the same issues with a macbook pro rev. 1. After an upgrade do Jaunty RC1 no wifi at all (no wifi module loaded). When I added ath5k to /etc/modules it didn't really work, the only way to get a working connection was inserting the module manually after startup. What is more, the default module just made the cpu spin @ 100% to no avail; I had to enable backport-modules to get it working at all. Until now i dodn't succeed in getting a working connection after startup :( (excluding the madwifi driver that works, but then it hangs after every suspend, which is a known issue). In Intrepid the ath5k driver worked, not flawlessy but it was allright...
