Public bug reported: Hello,
I just upgraded from ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 the day before yesterday. It worked well, but today after a crash of unknown reason, it cannot boot any more. It just displayed something like (I just copy it from some others): Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems: - Boot args (at /proc/cmdline) - Check rootdelay = (did the system wait long enough?) - Check root = (did the system wait for the right device?) - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev) ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/BA046C9D046C5E7F does not exist. Dropping to a shell! BusyBox v1.10.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.10.2-1ubuntu6) built-in shell(ash) Enter ‘help’ for a list of built-in commands (initramfs) I have followed this session: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/315572 but it seems the problem is different, I cannot find anything like /etc/fstab. My laptop is DELL 6400 (amd64 bit). Would you be so kind to give me a help. Thanks a lot. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 9.04 can not boot suddenly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363847 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
