Are you positive that compiz-gnome was never installed or may it have been
removed at some point?
I cannot remember if this happened to me as soon as I installed Jaunty or at
some point after.
If compiz-gnome is just being removed during updates this likely won't
happen to too many people but if it is happen right after installation
or an upgrade I would think it could turn into a bigger problem.
Im going to mark this as a duplicate of bug#340895 also.
