Binary package hint: vino
In Intrepid, vino preferences had an option to not send the desktop
background. There are two regressions in Jaunty:
1. The option no longer appears in vino-preferences, ie there is no GUI
for it (see attached screenshot for Jaunty's remote desktop preferences
screen).
2. Although the function still works (I copied my home folder from
Intrepid when I installed Jaunty, and it seems that it is still
enabled), when you first connect to the server, it draws the initial
window including the background (particularly obvious over a slow
connection). Then it refreshes and removes the background.
