If sound is working for other applications, I'm inclined to think this is not a bug with the kernel. However, I do see you are running the Intrepid 8.10 release. The Jaunty 9.04 release is set to come out at the end of this week. Could you test the latest release candidate for Jaunty and confirm if this issue remains? Please let us know your results. Thanks.
