I can confirm this too. It's quite annoying to hear unwanted beeps from
the PC speaker especially when the family would like to sleep and I have
to turn off the PC :) It was "just" a single beep just before upstart
progress bar appeared, but since a week or so, it's not three beeps, two
of them are quite closely in team, and one after a moment. I don't think
it's a good idea to bother users with strange system beep sequences at
shutdown, they should be avoided, the graphical representation (upstart)
is far enough to know the system is about shutting down, and voice
feedback can be very annoying (I think PCs should never use the system
beeper anyway, maybe just in fatal cases, like BIOS detected POST
problems and so on).
