Sorry for so many post in a row, but I figured a few new things. 1. I have reinstalled lidrm (it reset the Kwin settings) 2. I have installed the Intel driver. No glitches were present, because the Kwin desktop effects were disabled and were not loading during startup (after some examination I discovered that it can be also done by editing the kwinrc file [enable=false] 3. Any attempt of enabling desktop effects kicks me back to the log in screen (with all indispensable glitches and other crap!) and the fun begins again (only disabling compositing during auto startup reverts the situation and I can log in without any problem).
So, it doesn't actually look so bad, after all. Rendering works, logging works as well. What does not work is the whole desktop effects business. If I enable UXA once again, it is impossible to log in, glitches are dancing before my eyes and only the repetition of the procedure reverts the settings back. The question now is - what's the issue between kwin and acceleration/rendering. As I mentioned before - UXA worked splendidly and I hoped nothing will change this situation. Shall I wait for a new upgrade of some sort, or is it just the issue of system settings? -- Corrupted X after enabling UXA, unable to log into KDE https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/364479 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
