It looks like there is a additional dependency " kde-guidance- powermanager" that caused the "extra-careful" logic in update-manager to intervene.
I can add that to the forced obsoletes (that will fix the issue). Or I put "guidance-power-manager" to the PostUpgradeRemove line, that will remove it earlier and the user will not have a chance to opt-out of it.
