To follow up on my own posting, I wonder if I am running out of "low memory", even though plenty of "high memory" is available. Running just my usual desktop basics of Thunderbird + Firefox on KDE4, "free -lm" shows:
b...@gecko2:/var/log$ free -lm total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 2004 1956 47 0 79 1375 Low: 849 803 46 High: 1154 1152 1 -/+ buffers/cache: 501 1502 Swap: 0 0 0 So high mem is completely full, but 1501MB can be evicted as it is cache. Low mem has only 46MB free and nothing can be evicted there. Starting another couple of apps pushes me over the edge and low memory is exhausted. I wonder how I can mitigate this? I am not running a heavy workload. -- [Hardy] High system load coming out of suspend and hibernate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
