Joao, what you describe sounds entirely different to the original
problem here, which was about _overwriting_ $LDFLAGS.
The standard $LDFLAGS are not set by cdbs, but by dpkg, and for all
packages in the archive.
So if there is an issue with those standard flags, please open a bug
against dpkg.
