Addition:

This happens with files like the following:

application/x-mswinurl, vob, ifo, and bup files (that happen to be in my
music folder b/c they're music DVDs), RTF, "Internet Shortcut", and shn
files.

** Description changed:

  From Question #65502,
+ https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+question/65502

"When I start rhythmbox each time it scans my music collection and tries to
find plugins for some not-playable (such as application/x-mswinurl) files.
It display message "Search for suitable plugin?" and if I click Yes it found
nothing.
This message appear several times per collection scan because of several
files of that kind.
  All gstreamer-[good,bad,ugly,ffmpeg] packages are installed.
At next rhythmbox startup everything happen again.
So how can I disable plugin search function at startup?

(Ubuntu 9.04 beta if it makes sense)"

I have this problem on Jaunty as well.
