The patch added in intrepid to use gettext has some issues and probably never worked, it relies on HAVE_DGETTEXT to be defined but that's the case nowhere and it replaces an xml variable by a string and try xmlfree on it which leaks the first one and lead to a crash. The patch drops the HAVE_DGETTEXT requirement since that's an ubuntu change and the build system is already changed to use that feature during the build and do gettext using contexts when required, that seems to work correctly there but a review of the changes would be welcome
