I confirmed that this is still an issue on 9.04.  Once I got it to the
native resolution (it wasn't auto detected properly on install),
removing AC  power which dims the backlight causes screen image
corruption.  Ctrl+alt+f1, ctrl+alt+f7 fixes the corruption.
